The challenge of last stage cancer

Care of advanced cancer patients to understand their points in the face of death phase. Care and patients need to take with peers to help him experience life in front of each terminal phase. Earlier introduction of the Kubler-Ross five stages of death and will now discuss with you a more effective theory: Bowman Doctor (Dr. Robert Buckman) On the three stages.

Bowman is the new Toronto hospital in Southern Province, Nanjing Cancer Center doctor. He pointed out that human beings are often at the same time, with a wide range of emotions; he questioned the patient's emotional reaction will be according to a certain degree of logical thinking to develop. Bowman believes that Kubler-Ross's five stages, in fact, five patients of the emotional reaction, rather than five, with the order stage. In other words, these five emotions can be repeated, and even appeared on the same day, during which there is no logic, or the order of succession.

Bowman believes that human life before the end of the road, can be divided into three periods *:

(A) the face of death threats against the reaction period (facing the threat)
Bowman pointed out that in the first phase of patients with very complex emotions. Traditionally consider the patient's emotional flow in isolation and denied that too simple. Bowman believes that the patient's personality, attitude to life, often determines the level of death threats emotions. He believes that that person how to deal with daily life, tend to eventually use the same approach to life challenges in the face of death (most people die as they have lived). If the patient is a person who has faith, he would firmly believe that God, in order to calm the attitude of one joke went life and death. If the patient is a nervous paranoid people, probably he will be in a tense pessimism spent the first period.

(B) The period of the disease (being ill)
Phase II is the period of the disease. Patients have been unable to live independently, need to take care of other people. During this period, the patient's mood will fluctuate with the condition. Feeling of discomfort when the pain was under control, the patient will have more of their confidence, emotional and more easygoing. Instead, the patient's mood turned sour once he and his family, caring person will often conflict. At this moment, the mood of patients will enter a sustained between disappointment and hope; and along with the physical state of the increasingly deteriorated, he began entering the final period.

(C) the final period (the last stage)
Phase III is the final phase. Bowman believes that during this period patients may feel that life is empty and has no choice but to accept the facts. In the emotional, the patient will feel sad and weak. However, due to more acceptance of death, so to calm the heart, the heart is no longer angry. At this stage still resist and even to deny the death of the patient, the patient was obviously physically entering the final period, but psychologically it is still to stay in the second period.

Bowman comprehensive revision to the patient's emotions to the phased that their theory is more in line with the facts, it is worth caring person research applications.
